Dive Otter Outfitters began with a simple idea: useful outdoor guidance should come from experience, judgment, and a genuine connection to place.
There is already more gear, more content, and more advice than most people can reasonably sort through. The goal here is to identify what is useful, explain why it matters, and help people make better decisions about how they spend their time on and around the water.
That may mean choosing the right day to fish the Fox River, understanding a piece of equipment, preparing for a trip, finding a dependable jacket, or carrying fewer things that work better.

Dive Otter Outfitters is based in the Fox River Valley of northern Illinois. The river, its surrounding communities, and the broader network of lakes, creeks, trails, launches, and public lands provide the foundation for much of the work here.
The company may eventually reach beyond the region, but it begins here by paying close attention to the waters closest to home.

The Founder

Dive Otter Outfitters was founded by Tyler Allison, an angler, scuba diver, author, and lifelong student of the water.
He is the author of The First Breath: An Honest Introduction to Recreational Scuba and continues to develop books, field resources, and regional tools for divers and anglers.
Dive Otter Outfitters brings those interests together through practical guidance, thoughtful recommendations, and a close connection to the water.
